Gerund Part III
日本語は大まかな状況を説明しているだけで詳細な訳ではありません
前置詞は名詞を文に結び付ける働きをし、その名詞は前置詞の目的語と呼ばれます。ここでは動名詞が下記の４つの前置詞の目的語になる例を見て行きます。
1．about
2．at
3．after
4．from
1. About の目的語：
前置詞aboutの目的語となる例です。
He is crazy about playing golf.
彼はゴルフにこってます。
He is excited about leaving for Europe.
彼はヨーロッパに行くことに興奮気味です。
I was worried about missing the plane.
飛行機に乗り遅れることを心配していた。
We were thinking about stopping by to see our cousin.
親戚のところに立ち寄ろうかと考えていた。
Tera always dreams about going abroad.
テラは外国に行くことをいつも夢見ている。
She always complains about getting bored at work.
彼女は仕事が退屈だといつも不満を言っている。
2. At の目的語：
次は前置詞 at の目的語となる場合です。
He is good at telling lies.
彼は嘘をつくのがうまい。
He was busy at fixing his car.
彼は車の修理に忙しかった。
She needed to spend more time at studying math.
彼女はもっと数学を勉強する必要があった。
The two leaders held a talk aimed at improving their relationship.
２人のリーダーは関係を良くする為の話し合いをした。
She kept at trying hard until she became good at it.
彼女は上手になるまで諦めずに一生懸命やった。
He sometimes reminisces at being an opera singer.
彼は時々オペラ歌手だった頃を懐かしく思い出したりする。
3. After の目的語：
前置詞 after の目的語となる場合です。
I felt relieved after talking with him.
彼と話してほっとした。
We walked to the beach after having dinner.
食事（夕食）のあとビーチに歩いて行った。
The driver disappeared from the scene after causing the accident.
事故を起こした後ドライバーは現場からいなくなった。
After taking a thirty minute break, they began walking again.
30分休憩した後、彼らはまた歩き出した。
After running a long marathon, she was completely exhausted.
長いマラソンのあと彼女は疲れきっていた。
After vacationing in Hawaii, he is all fired up and ready to go.
ハワイでバケーションの後、彼はやる気満々でいる。
4. From の目的語：
前置詞 from の目的語となる場合です。
The court prohibited him from leaving the premises.
法廷は彼が敷地を離れるのを禁止した。
Nobody could stop her from going abroad.
彼女が外国に行くのを誰も止められなかった。
Failing health keeps my grandfather from traveling alone.
悪化する健康はお爺さんの一人旅行を妨げている。
A newly installed wall prevents the house from losing heat during winter.
新しくした壁は冬家から熱が逃げるのを防いでいる。
The mother told the child to stay away from playing near the beach.
母はビーチの近くで遊ばないようにと子供に言った。
Many farmers are moving away from using synthetic fertilizers.
多くの農家は人口肥料を使わない方向に進んでいる。
