Indefinite Article
日本語は大まかな状況を説明しているだけで詳細な訳ではありません。
2種類の不定冠詞があり、単数で限定されてない数えられる名詞の前に付随します。それは名詞が一般的で特定された名詞ではない事を意味し、その名詞が母音で始まる時は “an”、そうでない場合は“a”を使います。
1. Use an if the word starts with a vowel sound, a if consonant sound:
母音で始まる場合は “an”、子音で始まる場合は“a”：
an apple, an ape, an animal, an administrator, an authority
an egg, an eye, an ear, an eagle, an earth
an iceberg, an ideology, an inaccuracy, an infant, an injury

2. Nonspecific or generic:
不特定で一般的用法：
I finally bought a new car when my old one broke down.
前の古い車が故障した時、私は遂に新車を購入しました。
She graduated from a famous college before sixteen years of age.
彼女は16歳になる前に有名大学を卒業した。
I found a book on a picnic table at the park.

3. Use “a” for the first mention of a countable noun, use “the” after that:
数えられる名詞の初登場はaその後はthe：
I have an apple and a banana. The apple is red and the banana is yellow.
私は リンゴとバナナをもってます。リンゴは赤でバナナは黄色です。
They have a dog and a cat as pets. The cat is quiet but the dog is hyper.
彼らは犬と猫をペットとしてかってます。猫はおとなしいが犬は興奮ぎみです。
I am reading a suspense novel. type=”button” The novel is so good.

Do you see a car parked next to my house? I just bought the car yesterday.

I went to a park near my house yesterday. I met an old friend at the park.

They purchased a horse. They plan to train the horse for circus performances.

4. Means one or a rate of something:

As an engineer he earned $500 a day.
