Mixed Conditional
日本語は大まかな状況を説明しているだけで詳細な訳ではありません 。
これまでに述べた伝統的な4つの文型（zero, first, second, third conditional）以外にも多くのconditional文型があり、通常ミックス仮定法と呼ばれます。４つの文型をミックスしたり、言い手が何を言いたいのかを法助動詞によって変化させる事で多くのconditional patternが出来るのです。ここではsecondとthird conditionalを入れ替える事で出来る４つのpatternを見て行きます。
1. If + third conditional, present result:
過去の仮定節、現在の結果節：
If she had saved money, she wouldn’t be in such a financial difficulty.
（過去に）貯金してあれば（現在）彼女はお金に困る事はないだろうに。
If he had not been in a car accident, he wouldn’t be disabled today.
彼が車の事故に会ってなければ（現在）身体障害者ではないだろうに。
If you had graduated from college, you would have a better job.
大学を卒業しているんであれば貴方はもっと良い仕事をしているだろうに。
You would have more money if you hadn’t bought that expensive car.
あの高額な車を買ってなければ（現在）もっとお金があっただろうに。
I wouldn’t be here today if my parents had married someone else.
両親が他人と結婚していたら今の僕はなかった。
I would be happily retired today if I had won the lottery.
宝くじに当たっていれば私は今ごろ幸せに退職しているだろうに。
2. If + third conditional, future result:
過去の仮定節、未来の結果節：
If I had won the lottery, I would be quitting my job next month.
もし宝くじに当たっていたなら来月仕事を辞めたはずだ。
If they had been told the good news, we would be celebrating the occasion this weekend.
彼らにその吉報が知らされていたんであれば、我々は今週末に祝っているはずだ。
If I had quit the job, I would travel around the world on a cruise ship.
仕事を辞めていたなら私はクルーズ客船で世界旅行するだろう。
He would be able to buy a new car this year if he had saved money.
貯金してあったなら彼は今年新車を買う事が出来るだろう。
She would start high school next year if she had been born a year earlier.
一年早く生まれていたなら彼女は来年高校をスタートするはずだった。
He would be competing in the Olympics next year if he had not injured himself.
怪我していなければ彼は来年のオリンピックで競い合うはずだったのに。
3. If + second conditional in the present, third conditional:
現在の仮定節、過去の結果節：
If I were you, I wouldn’t have bought such an expensive car.
私が貴方なら、あんな高価な車は買わなかったのに。
If you needed transportation, I would have driven my car to come here.
車が必要なら私は自分の車でここに来たのに。
If he were rich, people would have treated him differently at the party.
彼が金持ちなら人々はパーティーで彼を違った扱いしていただろうに。
She would already have finished cleaning the house if she weren’t so lazy.
彼女がそんなに怠け者でなければ家の掃除はすでに終わっていたはずだ。
Her parents would have paid for her college if they had more money.
彼女の両親にもっとお金があれば彼女の大学学費を払っただろうに。
They would have helped you move the furniture if they didn’t work today.
彼らが今日仕事でなければ彼らは家具の移動を手伝ったでしょう。
4. If + second conditional in the future, third conditional:
未来の仮定節、過去の結果節：
If she didn’t have to work this weekend, she would have taken a longer vacation.
今週末仕事でなければ彼女はもっと長い休暇をとった事でしょう。
If I were transferring to Tokyo headquarter office next month, I would have mentioned it to my parents.
来月東京本社に転勤するんであれば両親にそう伝えたのに。
If you were to win the lottery tomorrow, would you have quit your job？
明日宝くじに当たるんであれば仕事を辞めてましたか？
I would have started the new project, if I weren’t going on a vacation next week.
来週休暇を取る予定でなければ新しいプロジェクトを始めたはずだ。
I would have stayed one more day if I didn’t have a hospital appointmenttomorrow.
明日病院予約がなければあと一日滞在しただろう。
He would have spent more time with his family if he had a day off from work next Monday.
来週月曜日仕事が休みだったら彼は家族ともっと過ごしたでしょう。
