Averb Clause
日本語は大まかな状況を説明しているだけで詳細な訳ではありません 。
副詞節は文中で動詞、形容詞、あるいは他の副詞を修飾し下記の例文で示されるように幾つかのカテゴリー（時、場所、理由・動機、目的・結果、状態・状況、対比・対照）に分ける事ができます。
1. Time: when, while, before/after, as soon as, until, whenever:
時の副詞：
When I came home around 6 pm, I called you right away.
6時ごろ家に帰った時、私は貴方にすぐ電話した。
While driving a car, you should not use a cell phone.
運転中携帯電話を使うべきではない。
Whenever I go to California, I see my friend Matthew.
私はカリフォルニアに行くたびに友達のマシュウさんに会います。
We should have a farewell party before you leave.
貴方が居なくなる前にサヨナラパーティーをした方が良い/するべきである。
I will leave as soon as I finish dinner.
夕食が終わり次第私は出発します。
My dog barks whenever the doorbell rings.
玄関ベルが鳴るたびに私の犬は吠える。
2. Place: where, everywhere, wherever, anywhere:
場所の副詞：
Where there is a will, there is a way.
やる気があれば必ず道は開ける/方法があるはずだ。
Wherever I live, I will be content as long as I have a good income.
しっかりした収入があれば何処に住もうが満足でしょう/不満はないでしょう。
Anywhere your ambition may take you to, make sure your health becomes the number one priority.
何処に羽ばたこうが健康第一を優先して下さい。
We are determined to bring him to justice wherever he may be hiding.
彼が何処に隠れていようが我々は彼を法で裁く決意がある。
The parents decided to sell the house and move to where the children live.
両親は家を売り子供たちがいる場所に移る決意をした。
He wears the same-color shirt everywhere he goes.
彼は何処に行こうが同じ色のシャツを着ている。
3. Reason: because, since, as, that:
理由・動機の副詞：
As nobody was home, the mailman left the package at the front door.
誰も家に居なかったため、郵便配達人はパッケージを玄関前に置いた。
Because there was an accident, I showed up an hour late to work.
交通事故の為、私は一時間仕事に遅れた。
Since she felt bad and apologized, the committee dropped the issue.
彼女が大変反省し詫びた為、委員会はその問題を無しにした。
The party was moved to the stadium as it started to rain.
雨が降り出した為パーティーはスタジアムの中に移された。
His parents were relieved that he finally got married.
彼が遂に結婚したので両親は安心した。
The judge dismissed the case since there was not sufficient evidence.
証拠不十分の為裁判官はその件を却下した。
4. Purpose: so that, in order to, in order that, therefore, as a result:
目的・結果の副詞：
So that I could take him to the airport in the morning, I went to bed early.
翌朝彼を空港まで連れて行けるように私は早く寝た。
In order not to upset the neighbor, they stopped playing loud music.
隣人を怒らせないように彼らは大音響の音楽を止めた。
In order that you receive the letter on time, I will mail it to you this afternoon.
時間までに受け取れるように今日の午後メールします。
He left early in order to catch the plane on time.
彼は飛行機に間に合うように早く出発した。

5. Condition: if, as long as, even if, whether or not, unless, provided:
状態・状況の副詞：
As long as you keep quiet, you will not get in trouble.
静かにしていれば何の問題も起きない。
Even if they don’t show up, we are leaving on time.
彼らが現れなくても我々は時間どうり出発します。
Whether you like it or not, you need to finish your salad first.
好きだろうが何だろうが、サラダを先に食べる必要がある。
They will come to the party if you invite them.
招待したら彼らはパーティーに来ます。
You will not pass the exam unless you study hard everyday.
毎日一生懸命勉強しないとテストには受からない。
Children are allowed to watch TV provided that they do their homework first.
先に宿題をする条件で子供たちはテレビを見るのが許されている。
6. Contrast: although, even if, while, whereas:
対比・対照の副詞：
Although I love ice cream, I rarely eat it because it makes me fat.
アイスクリームは大好きだが太るため私は滅多に食べない。
Though she was rich, she wasn’t happy.
彼女は金持ちだが幸せではなかった。
While there is no conclusive evidence, most people believe he is guilty.
確定的証拠は無いが、ほとんどの人が彼は有罪であると信じている。
He passed the test even though he did not study for it.
彼は勉強しなかったがテストにはパスした。
I love to go to parties whereas my wife doesn’t enjoy socializing.
奥さんは社交的ではないが私はパーティーにいくのが大好きです。
