Present Simple Tense
日本語は大まかな状況を説明しているだけで、詳細な訳ではありません 。
現在単純形は今も行われているアクションの表現に使います。ここでは４つの場面を見ていきます。
1. Short habitual actions continuing to the present
ずっと前から現在も続く短い出来事。
She walks to work.
彼女は歩いて仕事に行く。
I get up at six every morning.
私は毎朝6時に起きます。
He brings lunch from home.
彼は家からランチを持ってくる。
Our family enjoys skiing in winter.
私の家族は冬スキーを楽しみます。
They go to church every Sunday.
彼らは毎週日曜日に教会に行く。
Amy and her husband have lunch together almost everyday.
エイミーと旦那さんは毎日のように一緒にランチします。
2. A long action/process in progress that began in the past and still continuing. Usually expresses a long plan a person is engaged in even though the action may not be happening at this very moment.
過去にスタートし継続中の長い動作や出来事。 動作や出来事は今現在起きてないかもしれませんが継続中である。
My son comes back home this weekend.
私の息子は今週末に家に帰って来ます。
The plane arrives at Narita at eight o’clock tonight.
飛行機は今夜8時に成田に到着します。
He leaves for San Francisco on this coming Saturday.
彼は来る土曜日にサンフランシスコ向け出発します。
A circus performs in town next month.
サーカス団は来月町でパーフォーマンスします。
The next bus comes in ten minutes.
次のバスは10分以内に来ます。
My father retires next month.
私の父は来月退職します。
3. A repetitive action/event that happens all the time.
しょっちゅう起きる反復的行為・出来事。
Birds do not drink milk.
鳥はミルクを飲まない。
Earth moves around the sun.
地球は太陽の周りを回る。
In the alphabet A comes before B.
アルファベットではAはBの前に来る。
Water boils at 100 degrees Celsius.
水は摂氏100度で沸騰する。
Light travels faster than sound.
光は音より早い。
Mt Fuji is located to the west of Tokyo.
富士山は東京の西に位置する。
4. Planned or scheduled events in the near future. We are quite sure the event will take place.
近い将来の予定された出来事。非常に高い確率で起こる可能性がある。
I live in Japan.
私は日本に住んでます。
He is not nice to me.
彼は私に親切ではない。
She looks tired.
彼女は疲れているように見える。
You talk too fast.
貴方は早口過ぎる。
Let’s slow down.
スローダウンしよう。
You have bad breath.
息がくさい。
