Past condition, past result: both clauses describe events in the past, too late to change things.
第三仮定法は過去の起きてしまった状況を想像する場面で使われます。仮定節、結果節共に過去の状況を表し、取返しがきかない話です。
If I had had more time then, I would have helped you.
あの時時間があったなら貴方を助けただろうに。
If I had met her at the party, I would have asked her to dance with me.
私がもしパーティで彼女に会っていたら一緒にダンスしないか声かけしただろうに。
If he had married her, his life would have been very different.
彼女と結婚していたら彼の人生は大きく違っていただろうに。
I wouldn’t have said such a thing to her if you had told me about her.
貴方が彼女について私に話していたんであれば、私はそんな事を彼女には言わなかっただろうに。
I wouldn’t have asked her out if I had known she was your boss.
彼女があなたの上司だと知っていたならば、私は彼女をデートには誘わなかったのに。
They would have come with us to the party if their son had not been ill.
息子が病気でなければ彼らは私たちと一緒にパーティーに来ていただろう 。
