State Verb
日本語は大まかな状況を説明しているだけで詳細な訳ではありません。
主語の状態を表す動詞は状態動詞と呼ばれます。ここではそれらを幾つかに分類し例文を見て行きます。
1. Feelings and Emotion: envy, fear, feel, hate, like, love.
感覚・感情：それぞれの単語の例文。
His success became the envy of working-class people.
彼の成功は労働階級者の羨望となった。
There’s no reason to fear wild animals.
野生の動物を怖がる必要はない。
I felt so lucky to be still alive despite the horrific accident I was involved in.

2. Possession and Desire: have, include, own, hope, want, wish.

3. Thought and Opinions: believe, doubt, know, realize, understand, think.
思考・意見：それぞれの単語の例文。
Some people believe in life after death.
死後の世界を信じる人々もいる。
Many people doubted the authenticity of the findings.

My brother knows the family genealogy several generations back.
