Present Simple Progressive Tense
日本語は大まかな状況を説明しているだけで、詳細な訳ではありません 。
現在単純進行形は今現在進行しているアクションの表現に使います。ここでは４つの場面を見ていきます。
1. Short actions in progress at the exact time of speaking. Something is happening now, at this very moment.
今現在起こっている短い出来事。
What are you doing now?
今何しているの？
Someone is knocking on the door.
誰かがドアをノックしている。
Look, it’s raining outside.
見て、外は雨よ。
He is smoking in the other room.
彼はほかの部屋でタバコを吸っています。
She is walking toward us to meet you.
彼女は貴方に会うために我々の方向に歩いている。
Linda is reading a novel in her room.
リンダさんは自分の部屋で小説を読んでいる。
2. A long action/process in progress that began in the past and still continuing. Usually expresses a long plan a person is engaged in even though the action may not be happening at this very moment.
過去にスタートし継続中の長い動作や出来事。 動作や出来事は今現在起きてないかもしれませんが継続中である。
He is going to college to become a lawyer.
彼は法律家になる為に大学にかよっています。
He is studying hoping to pass the bar exam.
彼は法律家の国家試験にパスするために勉強している。
I am reading a detective fiction.
私は探偵小説を読んでいます。
The doctor is conducting tests to determine the cause of the illness.
医師は病気の原因を知るためにいろんなテストをしている。
I heard you are writing a book on US military base issues.
貴方はアメリカの基地問題についての本を書いていると聞きました。
Aren’t you building the house next door to us?
貴方は我々の家のすぐそばで家を建てているんじゃないですか？
3. A repetitive action/event that happens all the time.
しょっちゅう起きる反復的行為・出来事。
He is always complaining about aches and pains.
彼はあっちこっちの痛みにしょっちゅう愚痴をこぼしている。
My car is always breaking down.
私の車はしょっちゅう壊れている。
You are constantly imagining you will be a movie star.
貴方は映画スターになるのをしょっちゅう夢見ている。
My mom is always criticizing me.
母は常に私を批判している。
He is constantly talking.
彼はしょっちゅう喋っている。
My neighbors are always screaming and yelling at each other.
私の隣人達はしょっちゅうわめき騒いでいる。
4. Planned or scheduled events in the near future. We are quite sure the event will take place.
近い将来の予定された出来事。非常に高い確率で起こる可能性がある。
I am meeting some friends after work.
私は仕事後何名かの友達と会うことになっている。
Is he visiting his parents next weekend?
彼は来週末両親と会う予定ですか？
He is coming with us tonight.
彼は今夜我々と一緒に来ます。
She is appearing on TV tomorrow.
彼女は明日テレビに出ます。
I am leaving for Tokyo on Saturday.
私は土曜日に東京向け出発します。
The orchestra is playing at the auditorium on Friday next week.
来週金曜日に公会堂でオーケストラが演奏することになっている。
